ducks this morning
« on: October 15, 2016, 05:17:00 PM »
Went out to a local pond this morning with asmith from the board.  We've hunted together last year for ducks and quail.  This year was the opening morning and we found ducks.  We also found out we need to have an ammo company sponsor us as we popped a fair number of shells.

Here's the results after back at my place.

I just need to find a round that shoots straighter and actually hits the birds.  All the rounds I had today were crooked  :dunno:

Here's how you clean birds after a long day of hunting.

Get the kids to do it

After a number of shots my lower barrel didn't want to fire.  I had a very heavy single shot for the remainder of the day.  Beats me what's wrong and also beats me how to fix it.  I'm starting to look for a replacement shotgun.  My dream gun would be a 3 inch Citori, 28 inch barrel and under $1200.

Just a lot of people frustrated with this outfit.  They charge a membership fee, then a fee to hunt in the am or pm.  They keep tying up people's fields.  Many fields they have are very hit and miss or late season.  I guess they need to post good hunts so they can sucker more people in.

I'm not trying to lure anyone. We have seen baseless negative comments, like this, and wanted to show the other side of the coin.
As far as hit or miss properties, that could be said of all properties in the Northwest. We purposely choose properties that will produce throughout the the season. We also know that the birds act differently throughout the season. Therefore, we try and anticipate these movements and patterns. We also send out daily scouting reports to our members, by doing this they can have the most information we can provide for a successful hunt.
As far as going after other people's properties, we deal with the farmers and land owners directly. We have only pursued private property that has been previously posted. We have opened up previously close property to our members. I'm truly sorry you don't like that we exist, but spreading falsehoods isn't honorable.

Definitely not spreading false hoods.  My information is accurate.  You speak of honorable, would you care to explain said payment to farmers for posting there land or lack of.  I spoke with a few farms that didn't renew with your outfit as well.  Unless that is another falsehood.  Yes, you have opened up previously closed properties to the general public.  Various locals had permission to hunt them.  Enough said, the locals know the game.

I'm going to take the high road...
But, your information is false. ALL of our farmers renewed. They even increased the number of properties they signed with us. Some locals do know....half of our members are locals.

I have three fields within 25 minutes of Stanwood. We are still seeing sporadic numbers of ducks, but the highest concentration is near Fir Island. I also have a couple of fields East of I-5 that hold pockets throughout the year. Hop on the website and check out what we've got. If you have any questions give me a buzz. Thanks for the interest.
