Nephews First Deer
« on: October 26, 2016, 10:19:01 AM »
For a 1 day hunt it was pretty exciting. Started out in a draw i know holds lots of deer trying to fill my nephews tag. We were hoping to get him a buck but knew he would tag out with a doe tag in his pocket. 5 minutes into out hunt i heard some shooting. Being separated from my nephew and my brother hunting with my old man i figured it was him. After sprinting across the hill to the location of the shooting i found it wasn't my nephew but a buddy that was able to get another his first buck. From there i drove to the top of the mountain where i had an opportunity at a buck the year before. The old man took my nephew down the ridge and my brother went with me into the hole i seen the buck the year before. On the way in we found a decent buck but by the time i was able to put 3 points on it he was running at about 200 yards. So yes i shot and yes i missed. Leaving that spot i became grateful as we spotted 5 deer in the aspens. all took off but one that stood frozen. My nephew put the hammer down with one shot offhand. Had i shot that buck who knows if my brother, myself, and my old man would have all been together to enjoy his first deer experience.
Remember that buck is climbing that Mt. every day!

Well done!
THE WORLD NEEDS MORE PEOPLE HOLDING DEER IN PICTURES...
AND LESS PEOPLE HOLDING CAMERAS IN FRONT OF BATHROOM MIRRORS.

I hunt, therefore I am.... I fish, therefore I lie.
