Huckleberry late buck?
« on: October 26, 2016, 07:48:08 PM »
Hunted a few days regular season last year. Mostly northwest of Chewelah. Only time Ive ever been there. Loved it. Got to spend time with my son, grandson, and brother in law. Saw lots of deer, a bear, lots of moose and a ton of grouse. Never been over there for the late season but we are contemplating going over for a few days the middle of November. Would be staying at friends at Deer lake. Just wondering if those of you that are familiar with the area could fill me in on what to expect? How does the hunting compare to the regular season? What about the weather? I would really appreciate any input any of you might have to share about any aspects of hunting the late season over there. If you would rather, you could P.M. me.
Thank you,
HntnFsh

Be ready for cold weather.

I have these two from last week scoped out for my next trip over.
There is no greater respect to have for wildlife than to harvest an animal fairly and use it's flesh to feed your family.  ~me

This will be the 1st year in about 15 that I won't be over there for late whitetail - got mine during early season.  We've seen 50-60 degree weather, and we've seen 7 degrees and a foot of snow.  All I can say is be ready for anything.   During "most" years, we'd usually catch some rutting action, but this year could be different. A lot of folks are saying the rut is earlier than normal.  The only advice I might have is try to find some public land that's fairly close to some ag fields.  Deer hit those fields damn near every night/morning then slink off to the woods.  Be in the woods and hopefully catch 'em
