2 Mallards and a Gadwall
« on: November 30, 2016, 06:24:11 PM »
It was a cold, snowy and a bit foggy morning. Wind started out of the east when I setup to start but by noon had changed a couple of times. I had only packed in 4 goose deks and wouldn't ya know it not a goose the whole time out, I didn't even hear any in the distance. Suddenly wing beats over head and a flock of duck buzz by, a couple of calls and they turned and locked up. As they locked up and dropped their landing gears I jumped up, fired 3 times and 2 mallard drakes and a gadwall hit the water. Chase made 2 real nice retrieves on 2 of them but the 3rd one made it down the lake and we had to take a hike to find it. It took a while but finally we kicked it up out of some tully reeds and Chase had to swim it down. It dove several times but he went completely underwater and came up with it, kickin myself for not getting a shot of that but had left the camera in the blind when I went to look for it  :bash:

Only flock to come in, had a couple of small bunch make fly bys but didn't turn to look at all. Oh well still not a bad day when you can bring something home

Mr. Chase appears to be think "hey boss....I think there is a duck over there" in that last pic.
