Midland radios
«
on:

So my hunting partners and I use radios to keep tabs on each other. I've been having difficulty with my midlands to talk to them they have Motorolas. I can hear them just fine but when I try to talk to them it is just a beep each time I talk. I called midland and they told me that Motorola radios are not compatible. I have a hard time believing that. Has any one had a similar situationames? I've tried three different Midlands with two different Motorolas. Not sure what to do.

The Motorolas have a tone squelch that cuts out signals from other radios without the proper squelch code. I believe they have a setting that will let them hear all traffic on a frequency. Your buddies will have to look at the Motorola manual to find it.
This will also disable any privacy settings and anyone else on the frequency will hear your conversations.

Our dog club has at least 25 radios of various brands including midland and Motorola. They all work until they don't then, we throw them away and get more.

I had the same problem with Cobra radios. They were not very good to begin with so figured they were just junk. I didn't know about the squelch code.
Have Motorola's now and love them.

yah I also had a cobra I thought it was bad then got these midlands and had the same problem. I am just tired of buying radios but may have to buy a couple of Motorola's just so I am compatible.

Spend a little more and buy the "waterproof" versus "water resistant" model.

We also use two way radios which must be programmed. Makes the walkie talkies seem like Childs toys. They are about $200 each.
