Reloading with long magazines
« on: December 24, 2016, 03:00:10 PM »
So I bought some Nosler Partitions 175 gr. 7MM bullets. I wanted to load them for short to moderate range out of my CZ Classic in 7x57. My Nosler reloading book said COL is 3.065, so I loaded to 3.042, loaded and cycled, fit perfect with lots of room in the mag for a shallower bullet seat, however when I loaded the next one at 3.065" it hit the lands, black ink was marked, so I am leaving them at 3.042".
This load is 47 gr. of IMR4831, 24" barrel should put this load at 2,500 fps.
I was impressed by the length of the magazine in this rifle, I have seen some with short mags and they limit bullet seating depths. Looking forward to seeing these in action.

Always nice to have mag room. Do you not do a seating depth test?  In most my rifles they have a happy spot in seating depth where just about any powder charge will shoot well.  Some have preferred quite a bit of jump. Jme
