Bow case / storage between practices
« on: January 03, 2017, 07:46:18 PM »
Curious what you guys use in the way of a bow case?  Hard side case / soft side / no case???  I currently do not have one and not sure what way to go.

The other part of the question is how do you store your bow between practice sessions?  I generally shoot once a week.  When not in use the bow sits on a shelf in a detached garage with no insulation nor heat.  This garage is closest to my shooting area.  I realized today that maybe single digit storage wasn't the best for my bow so I moved it into the attached garage which at least never freezes (stays in the 40's at worst I think).

What is your standard operating procedure and preference?

I have a cheap Plano case.  Does fine.  I keep all my extra parts in it too (in a small tupaware)
Keep mine in the garage.

My bows stay in the house where they won't undergo temperature extremes for long periods of time.  Not sure how important that is in the grand scheme of things but I guess I look at it as "better safe than sorry" thing.

I wouldn't trust a soft case that could expose the sight, rest, string and cams to damage during a drive to hunting camp so I've only had the hard plano-type cases.  I think an exceptionally stout hard case like Smoke is speaking of would be important for airline travel (and even then I'd be really concerned about how the bow would fare while the luggage loaders sling it around to see how far they can throw it).

I was looking at the SKB.  Seemed pretty nice in case I want / need to travel.  Would you be willing to show how you installed a parts box inside?  Sounds like a nice option.
