Quick question...
« on: January 28, 2017, 02:19:41 PM »
So I am wondering when everyone puts out their salt licks, I am planning on using a horse salt/selenium brick along with buck jam.

I wouldn't use a salt brick. To noticeable for other people to see. Use rock salt or something that's no big and bulky. Just my   :twocents:

I put out some salt in eastern WA memorial day last year and the elk were using it in a day or two.  So I'm thinking this year about starting as soon as I can get to my spot.  The earlier the better.

Put it out whenever you want. It can't hurt and the stuff is relatively cheap. I usually put it out with cams in april, but there's really no reason I do it then.

So I bought the salt blocks and ordered the Buck Jam. The buck jam is supposed to come in about a week, and I think I'll be able to get to my other spot on February 18th, would it be fine then or should I wait a little longer?

I get the salt licks that look like rocks and the critters go for them.

Trophy rock you mean? Yeah I used one of those last year, I had some decent success but I wanted to go a little cheaper this year.

If the deer around my spots like the buck jam then I want to use it again next year along with some other rock salt.
