Looking for a Texas Pig hunting outfitter
« on: February 01, 2017, 02:01:09 PM »
I am looking for an outfitter in Texas (open to Western side of Louisiana too) who offers quality hog hunts.  Would love to do a thermal hunt at night.  I want to plan a hunt for the late summer/early fall with my dad.  He is 81 and not too mobile so it needs to be blind based, or ATV based hunts.  Not even slightly interested in a helicopter hunt!

I have one very good lead (http://coastalwings.com/hunts/hog-hunting), but I would be interested if anyone has first hand experience with someone who does a good job so I can compare and contrast options.

Really want an outfitter that someone has first hand experience with.  I went with an outfitter a few years back and it was not a very good experience.

Im ever in Texas again Id love a 2nd hunt. Easy walking, lots of game, full service, very nice equipment. Exciting spot and stalk in the wide open dark!

Thanks!  I will add them to the list to check out.  when did you hunt with them?  I like the San Antonio area - very close to where my parents are now.

Its been a few years. Have one of the skulls on my loading bench. Fully supressed rifles with night vision scopes was a hoot. Sneaking along to pigs 50 yards away in the wide open was lots of fun. Only concern or suggestion is to cautious of your dad walking, and not tripping, while wearing the night vision. Took some getting used to. We would drive near a feeder or baited area, get out, gear the pigs,  then move in. Sometimes only 50 yards or so. Im sure they could accommodate the needs.

Interesting, we are planning a hog hunt in a couple months near San Antonio. Was hoping to hunt feeders and also do a heli hog hunt. A couple of the guys have been there before and brough home over 1000 pounds of hog.

We are trying to find a dog hunter too, if we find one and he's good I'll let you know.

I talked to A guy with Top Notch Hunting Adventures at the Sportsman show Sunday. They had some Texas Chopper hog hunts with unlimited ammo and ar rifles supplied. They also had some night vision hunts as well that sounded pretty interesting. I'd call them and ask for sure. (253) 533-1958 nice guy and he's local. I think his name was Daniel.  Topnotchhunting.com

I'm sure they would work with him.

Sounds like a hoot!

I will check them out!  how does the $/pound work?  is that on the hoof?  processed meat?  sausage?  If you shoot a pig do you have to take all the meat, or can you only pay for the cuts you want?
