Looking to rabbit hunt cottontails
« on: February 22, 2017, 04:31:48 PM »
Been off the bandwagon for a while due to some other commitments in life (work).  Missed a lot of the duck season, and was hoping to finish off the season with rabbits.  Was coyote hunting a few weeks ago and saw a ton of rabbits in a area, but did not see them the day before.  Are they best to hunt at dusk, dawn, night?  Do cottontails prefer woods or hedgerows and edges of the woods?  Thanks, hopefully can post up some successful photos this weekend.

So how did you do? I'd like to start rabbit hunting there next season. One of my relatives really likes to go up there for biking.

I have always seen the most rabbits out and about in the last hour of daylight. The walking trail by my house is full of them, but you really only see them in low light conditions.
I hunt, therefore I am.... I fish, therefore I lie.

I'd like to find a place to hunt rabbits at also here on the west side, in or near Thurston Co.  Never done it yet, so any other help I could get would be helpful or looking to meet up with someone who would be willing to help and teach a newbie.
