Opinions on the Ruger SR1911 model 6736
« on: March 10, 2017, 10:48:00 AM »
I have an opportunity to pick up a Ruger SR1911 model 6736 for a decent price.

I have always liked Ruger.  Thoughts on this gun?  Does it have a good reputation for performance?

(not really interested in alternatives - just wondering what folks think of this model)

One of my best friends runs a ruger 1911 as his every day carry gun. I have shot it a good bit as well. Seems like a nice solid gun and I know he hasn't had any problems with it, that wasn't ammo related.

I shot a relatives sr1911 a bit. Seemed to be of good quality and shot well for me.

Cool, I am not looking for "the best 1911", just a solid shooter.

Sounds like this one may fill the bill!

I haven't shot one but compared it side by side with a different brand 1911. The Ruger did have a noticeable rattle compared to the other. Do I think this is a big deal? No. the original 1911's rattled ALOT and were loose for reliability and so they could swap parts made by different companies. So reliability is probably just fine and if you want a range toy go for it.

My overall opinion of Ruger isn't super high however. Ive had my share of problems with them.

mind me asking what they want for it? you might be able to find a "better" 1911 for the same price. The web site has it listed just over $1000 and I don't think I personally would pay that for a Ruger 1911. maybe $600. just curious.

I have a pro-deal for it, and I get it for 40 to 50 % off list.

Seems like it is worth the price.

Appreciate the review!

So $500 range? I say go for it. $500 for a quality 1911 is a heck of a deal. like I said I'm not a big fan of Rugers but for that price I think its worth the gamble.

If it was me and I had a pro-deal on Ruger what I would do is check with my co-workers and see who else uses one.   That's the best spot to get your recommendation.
