My new rabbit gun :)
« on: March 21, 2017, 12:41:20 PM »
I picked up this Winchester 1885 High wall safari hunter in 375 H&H and put a Leupold vari x III 2.5-8x36 on it. I plan on using it for all of my big game hunting this year.

Purty gun!
I love my 375 ouch and ouch! I've taken deer, elk, bear, and a moose with mine.

What bullets are you planning on shooting?

Nice.  Critters aren't going to like you very much.

Have you used that model rifle before?

You should have fun with it.  Was just going to say that if the design was new to you, sometimes for sight-in the torque on the fore end screw can make huge differences.

Thanks. :) I am hoping with a 9.5lb rifle bare adding the scope and bases and that it came with a decelerator pad that it should be manageable.I also have a lead sled for sighting it in.

They really aren't too bad recoil wise from a seated or standing position. As long as your body can move with it.
Laying prone and shooting up hill is no bueno however. Don't ask how I know.  :chuckle:
