End of season trap prep
« on: March 23, 2017, 08:42:22 PM »
End of the season is here and it's time to take care of everything so it's good until next season.
   1.  Pressure wash , repaired and repainted all cages
   2.  All lures are resealed and put in paper bags in fridge
   3. Pack basket scrubbed and clean
   4. Axe, pliers oiled and a new edge
   5.  Stretchers cleaned , disinfected and hung up
   6.  Fleshing knives and scrapers cleaned
   7.  Chest waders treated with rubber conditioner and ROLLED up in tote
Now the long wait until next season ( except WCO work )

Any other good ideas or tips you guys can think of add them in !!!

I've gotten in the habit of selling off a lot of my cages when season is over because I've got new designs dreamed up. Every season I learn more about the advantages and disadvantages to each design and how I want to improve on them. No need to clean or repaint my traps if I don't own them anymore.  :chuckle:
The one thing I have to get figured out this week is what to do with all the rancid, vile smelling beaver meat I have in buckets in the backyard! I have quite a bit and I'm thinking of throwing it out in a spot where my cousin walked up on cougar two weeks ago. Leave it there for a few days and do some calling.  :dunno:

Do lures last a lot longer if they are refrigerated?

I re-seal them and refrigerate them and they work just as well
I also put them in the fridge every night when I would get home from the line
