Garmin inreach explorer +
« on: April 06, 2017, 12:21:18 PM »
Anyone try this unit out yet? I think I will be replacing my Rino 650 with one of these in the near future. Looking if anyone has any insight since I can't seem to find any reviews.

I dont think the gps, maps and user interface on the inreach is to the same level as your 650. I think you'd find the inreach lacking in some areas. I think the future will be adding texting over the irridium satelite network to the rino.  This will be the new norm.

The new garmin with two way talk and text has good maps?  Same as your rhino or better I would assume.  Not sure what the walkie talkies and text run off.  And it has no sos feature or text to cell I don't think. After considering the same deal I decided I'd have to buy a smaller good gps and a separate text or email joint to talk to family out of cell range. After seeing the walkout talkie feature in the new rhino make me wounded how far it goes and if I can save the weight of a talkie and incorporate it into my gps. But the sos text or email to cell is probably gonna be a separate unit like the in reach.

The newer 750 series rinos just have a better screen and a few other things over the 650 series.
