small and light silencers

Just another shopping thread, but I'm hoping somebody here can help me. I've been doing a bunch of googling and no luck.

I'm looking for a silencer for use on a .308 or 30-06 for hunting. My main priority is that it be light and low-profile. I don't want to add another foot or pound to the end of my rifle. I'll be hauling this thing through the mountains.

When I shop though, I can't find anything appropriate. Everything on the market seems overbuilt for my purposes. For example, I don't need it rate for full-auto fire or a .300 RUM. I also don't need 30+ decibels of noise reduction. 10 decibels would be plenty of reduction for me.

Is anybody aware of a product like this?

You willl want to go titanium for sure. Much lighter as far as length i havent really seen any short cans. I have a ti yhm direct thread for my bigger bores ans love it.

Have you ever thought of making it yourself.so it can be light or how ever I want.

You might be able to buy the caps in the thread size u need,make it yourself.

Just search Google for solvent traps,or YouTube,ebay, There is other company's that make kits like this.This was just the one I was looking at recently.

could design maybe.  Just adding 6 inches to the barrel of normal sized hunting barrels should take you down by almost 3 db.

Good thought - especially for big guns - if I'm going to add 6" to my barrel do I want to give up 200 fps to avoid needing earplugs?

See, just like I said, they keep coming out with lighter, quieter, and better cans and we just can't say no.  Friggin things like potato chips, you can't just have one and close the bag.

You're looking at it all wrong, I'm not trying to "tempt" you, I'm just trying to help you spend some of your money.

And you wouldn't want to have an odd number of cans so when you order up that Ultra 5 you better go ahead and get a Dead Air Ghost for yourself, too.  They are one of, if not, sweetest pistol cans on the market right now.  I love mine, VERY quiet!

I'm going to make up a tube of the same length and weight and attach it to my rifle to see how it would feel. I think 5 inches and 9 oz is about as small and light as I could expect.

Did you talk to Zach, Ray, or other??   I've only ever talked to those two and they were awesome about answering all my questions every time I've called.  Ray does some great side by side comparisons with other companies suppressors.  He has a lot of stuff on youtube if anyone wants to look them up.  Also, Ray is always open to doing all kinds of different test so if you have something you want to see tested, if he has time, he'll try and do it.  Their CS at TBAC is second to none.  I have a couple SAS cans and they're a great suppressor but their CS sucks, IMO.
