Spent the Weekend at Banks
« on: April 10, 2017, 09:46:15 AM »
Had a great time at Banks Lake on a 4 day weekend. Weather was a challenge. The storm overnight Thursday was intense, very high wind and heavy rain. Felt bad for a couple tent campers across the campground. Did not get out Friday due to wind, just could not get excited to go out and get beat up. Bike riding, shooting baskets, and hiking were better options. Only made 4 trips out over the 4 days, boating 4 walleye and 2 perch for the weekend. Slow fishing. Glad to get a few fish in the boat. Sure is a late spring. Water temp was 42 degrees. Coming in before noon on Saturday was a bit rough and was actually kinda fun to be in a bit of a chop. Looked like the bass tournament went well Saturday, most boats weighed in 5 bass.
I felt like a one legged cat trying to bury a terd on a frozen pond!

Glad you guys made it through Thursday night...thinking about installing "oh S_IT" handles near the bed after that storm... We were in the "B" Campground with the little Alumaweld parked next to the camper. Was fun, looking forward to going back.

That's great C-Money

Been to Banks once and loved it. We only caught 1 walleye. Everybody we talked to said "you should have been here last week", couldn't keep the off the hook.  :chuckle:
Hey! I'm not a complete idiot I have parts missing. Though sometimes I wonder.

I love Banks! I haunt the flats behind Steam Boat Rock! I'm a total Walleye junkie. I can't wait to make my first trip this year. We flat beat them up, as soon as we hit a limit of Walleye then it's some serious Small Mouth action. Then in the evenings it's time to anchor up and fish Burbott.

Your spot on about the wind/weather! You can see it coming way down the lake. I just usually beach it and wait it out on the other end of the flats. Throw on night crawlers fish the bottom and put the poles in sand spikes and catch and club monster carp for fun.
