Has anyone caught any of the Lake Whatcom Lake trout, or do they even exist any more?

My grandpa used to whoop up on the mackinaw, of course that was 50 years ago or more.

Plenty of Kokanee.  We do best in the South Bay area trolling slow with eggs on wedding rings right at morning. Used to use corn too.  Back before Wildwood was destroyed.

You can get into some good size cuts occasionally. Can't keep them but a blast to catch. They get big in that lake.

Just don't eat anything you catch.

The Kokanee run small in the lake for some reason thou.  Why not eat anything?  I hear the Mackinaw are still there, slow troll cut plug herring is what I am told...

Yeah the Kok do run small.  Never got into any Mackinaw.

That lake has very high levels of Mercury, among other things.  I think the last report recommended only eating 1 fish per year for adults and zero for kids and pregnant women.  that just ells me not eat anything.

Edit:

Looks like I read it wrong or it's drastically better than years past.

I haven't heard of lake trout but I know you can catch nice cutthroat with cut plug herring.
Light travels faster than sound. That's why some people appear to be bright until you hear them speak.
