I've written to the reporter asking about names.

I feel like no matter what we do, the following will happen:

Cenci will get more air time
The defendants will get a conviction and extreme minimal sentence at most... And may lose the hunting rights they ignored for a year or two.
Our game wardens will re-arrest at least 1-2 of them within the next 3 years, for a rinse and repeat.

After reading Operation CODY, and following up on the aftermath, I struggle to believe that our fish and game laws are taken seriously by prosecutors, judges, or even upper level WDFW staff.

Your likely response...

Sorry to tell you mr. pman we will not be releasing the names of the individuals due to the ongoing risk of being a criminal and the departments ongoing efforts to protect the criminals in the case.  The criminals will likely receive very lite sentences and therefore need to be protected by us even more, resulting in us covering up what specific community members have been doing this. Again sorry you care."

 :chuckle:  sorry pman carry on.

I believe I read that the names aren't being released because the suspects haven't been arrested yet.

The arrival sure made it sound as if they knew the exact number of people involved.

...nor have they been charged. I just got that response from the reporter and she'll post the names once they have.

I heard that they are a well known group of poachers and have been cited in the past.  Keep in mind that is second hand information.

I'd guess that the case, considering how into it sounds like they were.  Not exactly like the case where someone lost track of a property boundary or shooting hours when you and your buds are rolling around with packs of hounds.

I would hope not.  I hope WDFW keeps some sort of tabs on folks that are known poachers.  However, there area a lot of similarities and stupid criminals are notorious for reoffending.  We should know shortly I hope.

I feel like our wildlife office is very mismanaged. When they find people that do things like this they should be shot. There's a way to make an example, not a 5,000 fine.
