Pontiac had a bad rep, buy I think it has calmed down. I lived in Curlew for almost 17 years and never heard of anything horrible, except the shooting of the grouse hunter. That area gets hit pretty hard by hunters. Find a land owner who'll let you hunt his land if you have time to ask or find one would be my suggestion.

Pontiac Ridge, Mt. Hull, Cougar Creek, yadda yadda....all had a reputation years ago and you needed to respect those.  Those were the days........   :chuckle:  but then how would I know  :dunno:

Worse things happened in Republic and Curlew than all of those mentioned. I think we had 6 murders in almost 17 years of living there and one was right across the road from my house....

:jacked:  Dating myself.  Anybody remember the Thanksgiving Day shootout at the Peerless Hotel in Oroville?  http://wa.findacase.com/research/wfrmDocViewer.aspx/xq/fac.19800108_0041555.wa.htm/qx  Some of those folks lived on Mt. Hull.

Now, back on topic.   :chuckle:
Economy failure = Too many people spending money they don't have on things they don't need to impress people they don't like.

Well we are hunting way down near Aeneas Valley so we shouldnt have to deal with any of those issues lol

Thanks for the support guys. We are hoping for success and next year may start checking out some private property opportunities if we feel they would benefit us.

Watch the does! If you are not seeing deer move around to a new area. A fair amount of predators up there this time of year both two and four legged. There are some great threads on her about rattling, I would definitely read them! 10 days is more than enough to get in a great hunt!!! Practice great woodsmanship, control your scent, and shoot straight!
Do you have an area picked out for your hunt? That may well land you more specific info. I would also recommend a new thread as yours will be a totally different hunt and will get more attention and information in a new thread vice tagged on to this one. Also in your new thread share a bit about yourself, your experience and what you know about the area. Best of luck on this I have been putting in with my son for 12 years so far!!!
