It's been several years since I hunted birds, but with my Beretta I used to like using the improved cylinder tube in the bottom barrel, and the full choke in the top. When hunting pheasants often they would be running with the dog in pursuit, and it might be 50 yards or more when it flushed, so I'd switch to the top barrel and take it with the full choke, and usually a 1 1/4 ounce load of 5's. But many times they would hold tight and I'd have a 15 yard shot, which I would take with the bottom barrel and usually a 1 1/8 ounce load of 6's. If it was later in the season I might have the heavier loads in both barrels.

For pheasant on eastside I use IM in lower barrel (shoot this first as less stress put on receiver) then full on top barrel if I need a follow up shot. Lead of course.

Same barrel sequence for steel. But go modified on bottom and IM on top.

Browning Citori 625.

I usually reverse my chokes and have the lighter on in the top barrel and fire that one first.  My reason is with a "U" channel safety I have the tendency to run the jam the safety in the bottom part of the "U".  If I have it set on the upper barrel, or the left side of the "U" it rarely jams for me.

Wider choke in the lower barrel, usually IC or IM. Fire lower barrel first as it will result in less muzzle rise letting you stay or get back on target quicker for thecsecond shot.
