Shotgun hulls
« on: June 29, 2017, 08:41:28 AM »
I'm getting into reloading and for the life of me can't find shotgun hulls, anywhere. Money is tight, so I'd like to avoid buying loaded shells just to shoot off. But, if that's what I need to do, I guess I'll do it. Does anyone know of a place within 90 minutes of Bremerton where I can buy new 12 & 20 gauge hulls?

The ATA is shelling AA and STS that are once fired  http://www.shootata.com/Portals/0/images/ATAHullAdFINAL.jpeg
Also check ballistic products inc....but be careful they have a lot of Euro trash that take Chettie primmers

I bought some Remington Gun Clubs a year ago to shoot, reload and then discard after they broke down.  The data is the same as STS hulls.   I'm surprised how long the Gun Clubs last as I'm up to about 6-8 reloads per hull and they are in way better shape than what I was used to with AA hulls.   It appears the AA hulls I used may have been transition hulls manufactured between "when AA was king" and the new hulls of today.

How many do you need? I have a bunch of once fired AA's (HS) 12ga that you can have.

Good on you, wadu1.  I also have too many 12 and 20 hulls. If you make the trip down, I'll give you half of what I don't need.  Mixed, bag, but many AA hulls.

I use a lot of Rio and Fiocchi hulls and find them to work just fine.  I like the extra capacity in them as I cut them to 2.5" for my old sxs's.
After the first shot the rest are just noise.

There are lots of closed groups on FB it's so they can attempt to screen out the Anti crowd. I belong to a closed group where you need some one to vouch for you to get accepted.

These two clubs have PITA (registered trap shooting) shoots during the year and open shooting during the weekends. I would check their calendars and go the first day at of a weekend shoot. Stop in and talk to the managers and more then likely they will have barrels full for free. You'll have to do your own sorting. They do a clean up when the days shooting is done, and then everything will be in the dumpster.

As far as the reloading goes. Just because it's a 12 gauge does not mean they all load the same. Pick your components wisely.
Too bad your so far away. I quit shooting trap a while back and have a reloader, thousand of cases, wads and primers I need to send down the road.
