I have a coworker who has harvested a couple of deer near Twisp on permits. This was just last month. He went with his Dad and I think they both killed one deer each. A farmer/rancher had some deer eating/destroying his hay bales and received some permits to remove a couple of deer. His father is friends with the guy and that is how they got the invite.

I live in Oroville and know of many orchard owners who were given depredation permits by WDFW this year. Any hunter encountered with a depredation permit had to have a license and valid deer tag. One orchard about a mile from my house was given four depredation permits. I took a drive around their orchard two weeks ago and counted over 40 deer carcasses, some extremely fresh. No pack of coyotes in the world could kill that many in one orchard. So it's my guess that the land owners illegal hired hands have been picking off the deer that come into the orchard and letting them lie.
We made a call to our local warden and it turns out he'd already heard about the overkill and is attempting to work it, but it's tough to prove until you catch someone with a rifle in their hands.
