Didn't know this existed....be safe out there!
« on: August 21, 2017, 03:29:54 PM »
http://wdfw.wa.gov/publications/01216/wdfw01216.pdf

This is a published incident report by year (some of the last few years missing), but a good refresher prior to season to be safe.
We must reject the idea that every time a law's broken, society is guilty rather than the lawbreaker. It is time to restore the American precept that each individual is accountable for his actions.

Makes me sick to my stomach just reading those incident descriptions.
I hunt, therefore I am.... I fish, therefore I lie.

Here's the most recent report. No fatal incidents, and only 3 total, looks like a downward trend the last few years!

The two archery incidents were especially disturbing!

Shouldn't there be a ticket that just says "We told you so". I mean a guy breaks a rule, ends up shooting himself because he broke the rule and then is written a ticket.  :chuckle: Talk about kicking someone when their down. Isn't shooting yourself enough of a punishment without having to get a ticket to go along with it. I mean, seriously, if shooting yourself isn't enough of a deterrent, what is the point of a $150 fine?

And Idaho, a state where blaze orange is optional, has virtually the same amount of incidents as Washington.

Just shows accidents will always happen, even if safety precautions are made mandatory rather than allowed to be personal choices!

Washington also has 4.5 times the amount of people as Idaho.

And less than half the hunters in the woods, so Idaho's rate is actually far smaller than Washington's!

weird stuff.
"When my bow falls, so shall the world. When me heart ceases to pump blood to my body, it will all come crashing down. As a hunter, we are bound by duty, nay, bound by our very soul to this world. When a hunter dies we feel it, we sense it, and the world trembles with sorrow. When I die, so shall the world, from the shock of loosing such a great part of ones soul." Ezekiel, Okeanos Hunter

If they're out of state hunters from Washington, should they apply to Idaho's rate or that of Washington? :chuckle:

I don't think ID residents hunt WA, other way around :D

Good question.  I don't even put a loaded magazine in my rifle until I am getting ready to shoot something.  I always figured that if there are no rounds in the gun, the chance of it going off when I don't want it to drop quite low.
