First Bear
« on: August 22, 2017, 01:59:37 PM »
Shot my first bear on Sunday, not much to the story except it happens fast. My buddy was walking ahead of me on a trail and came face to face with this guy at 10ft. The bear ran off and we both went that direction I was about 50yds behind him and the bear came my direction, 20yd shot he went 30yds. Not a big bear but the taxidermist said he was an average boar

Got it done with a fine bear, Congrats. Let us know what you end up doing meat wise? Steaks? Sausage? First meal? Story doesn't have to be for the record books but it doesn't have to end with the pic. I won't have time for trying to fill my tag till October so I live off of these success stories.

  Nice job! That will be a good eater. I love bear meat and get asked all of the time what I do with it. I dont turn it into sausage or anything, I personally think that is a waste of delicious meat. I turn most into hamburger and make a few roasts. Since it has to be cooked well done, I don't make steaks. If I want sausage then I use deer meat for that. I think bear meat is better than deer. Anyway, congrats on a fine boar.
I'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I'm not!
