Anyone...

Ever kayak a creek to get in farther for elk? Sounds exciting, just wish I would have thought of it earlier. Wondering if anyone has done this with success?

Haven't done it, but I just acquired a kayak for the first time this summer and you better believe I've been thinking about it.  It's on the list of backup plans for deer at the moment.  I confess I haven't devoted enough time to my elk plans C through ZZ, so I'm hoping A or B works out  :chuckle:

Haven't done that, but think its an excellent idea. I would like try out the idea during the offseason to see if its worthwhile.

I've always thought of canoeing for elk. I don't know how kayaks work hear storage wise but I identified a couple easy to get to spots with a canoe that showed no sign of being g visited by humans.

I've used a rubber raft to float down the American River to access spots that were a long hike to get to. At the end of the day I'd just float further down to a pickup spot - it worked great until the day no one remembered to pick me up.
I beg to dream and differ from the hollow lies

Hi Gents,
I have spent a fair amount of time in rivers on kayaks. it is a bit of a different animal. Bad situations develop quickly.
I would scout anything closely. Be safe.
I have done some bird hunting on the lower salmon and snake via boat.
Good thought JP.
