Access help
« on: September 18, 2017, 12:14:02 PM »
If anyone has any information on private land access for the North Okanaogan that would be awesome. I have posted before and got no traction. Im hoping to gain access to private land and take my boys with me to harvest a doe. even if someone knows how to get in touch with the local biologist that would be awesome as well. any information would be much appreciated.

I just seen your post about looking for hunting access for your boys.  You should get a hold of the game department regional office for that area and ask them.  When my son was young I had contacted the WDFW office in the Spokane area about the same kind of thing.  And they sent me a list of a few land owners that would allow hunting for kids and seniors for doe hunting.  It had the land owners name and phone number and I just called them.  A few told me they had already allowed a bunch and didn't have room and a couple said come on over.  My son was able to get a doe over there doing that a couple years when he first started hunting.

The biologist's contact information is provided on the first page of the WDFW 2017 hunting prospects for that unit.

Might make it hard if the hunt is for you and your sons are included.  It's could also be perceived as they are decoys for access.  Make it clear that this for them to accompany you and you will only harvest a doe and if they want you will include a picture for documentation it might help.

I have already called a couple land owners and made sure they understood i was the one hunting i thought about this same thing. Most of the hunting i do isnt suitable for a young one so with this i figured if i gain access it would be a perfect one to do as a family.

I think you would have a ton of success just spending a weekend or two in the area. Stop and talk with people even knock on doors. The worst thing that happens is they say no and when they do you tell them thanks anyway and you appreciate their time. The road trip with the boys pre season may be just as much fun as the actual trip during hunting season. My  :twocents:

About 10 years ago I took my son (4 at the time) on a scouting trip to MT.  I cant remember that much about the actual hunting trip its all a blur. My son and I still talk about different things that we did and things that happened on the scouting trip.
