Winchester vs stack on soverign safe
« on: October 13, 2017, 08:40:50 PM »
Gonna be buying a safe in the next couple weeks, my budget isn't huge.

Looking at a few models at griggs tonight, the soverign 60 gun, and the Winchester ranger 44 gun ( identically sized safes, regardless of rating)

The soverign has a better fire rating at 75 min, and claims it is water proof to the first 2 feet.
The Winchester feels a little smoother on the operating parts. ( The soverign has been on the floor over 2 years, may just be rough from abuse)

The price is really simmiliar, 1300 for the soverign, 1500 for the Winchester.

I realize both of them are just a step above a cabinet, and arent the best safes. I figure it'll keep most smash and grab type people out, keep the kids and his buddies from being to curious, and give me a place to organize my firearms.

Between either of these safes, and the fact my house has an alarm system with 24 hour monitoring, I feel like they would be sufficient.

The question now is what one? I'm leading towards the stack on,it's cheaper, and I like the door organization better.

If it helps, my budget is 1500-1800. And I like the 72" tall safes,I'm open to other options.
Thanks!

Either would work just fine. At around 1000 lbs, make sure you like where they install it, might be tough to move.

$1500-$1800 could get you a nice Liberty.

1500-1800 buys me a small liberty around here as far as I can tell, I'm all ears for another place to look though!

Cabela's has the Fatboy Jr 48 for $1499. Christmas it usually goes to like $999 or somewhere around there. Coastal in Yakima has great deals around Christmas also.

Keep your eye on Costco and Walmart, they put Safes on sale towards the holidays. I picked mine up for $200 cheaper from Walmart. Plus I got the comic relief watching four Walmart employees try to load it in the back of my pickup, LOL.
