September Coho From Masons Olsons resort Sekiu
« on: November 12, 2017, 11:57:13 AM »
So I'm sure that many of you know about the Coho fishing in Canada. It's still good. For the past 2 years we have been making the annual migration to Sekiu to fish Coho, the only difference is we go 7-20 miles from Masons resort into Canadian waters and catch them there. It was easier this year than ever. The Masons have a laptop in the store set up to help you get your Canadian inland waters license on line, there 3 and 5 day and annual licenses available. Report on line to the WDFW the day you launch the number of people on the boat and the day you pull out of the water. There is some confusion in WDFW (go figure) as if this needs to be done Dailey or just one time. I did it for my complete trip and was checked at the dock and had no problems. We went up for 10 days and had a record year.
We had to stay on top of the bait it went from anchovies to cut plugs to whole hearing to cop cars some days flashers some days just bait. But that's nothing new. We caught mostly hatchery fish except in a few small areas where wilds were legal. Oh and yes we caught some nice King's in Renfrew. For those of you that want to fish theres still some awesome fishing out there no matter what WDFW keeps trying to do to us.
