DiamondBack Scopes
« on: December 06, 2017, 08:46:05 AM »
Hey guys, looking at picking up a couple of vortex DB 3.5-10x50 scopes as they appear to be going on sale this week for $100 off, and I need to buy myself a X-mas present still  :chuckle: . Any input on them? I haven't bought a new "quality" scope for quite a while, just some cheap plinking scopes. One will be going on a Howa 1500 in .308. Main use for that one is a paper puncher as well as my deer/bear gun. The other will be going on a .223 (AR), mainly used for targets, and varmints. I see they have the V-plex reticle, and the deadhold BDC, pro's and con's of either/which would you guys suggest?

I have a couple of the Diamondback HP's. I like them for the $$. Not sure I'd bother spending the extra $$ to get the BDC thing.

I own 2 Diamondbacks 4x12-40 with Deadhold BDC and love them. I don't think the cost is any different, it is just 2 different reticle choices depending on what you like. I coyote hunt a lot so the BDC reticle was my choice since I can use the hashes for hold over depending on distance I shoot. I don't use the windage hashes though.

Keep in mind those measurements are only accurate at 12x zoom in that case, or at full power.

2nd focal plane scopes

I use the app Strelok on my phone to figure out the distances at each hash.

I have a 40mm 4x12 and it is a good scope, but the fit and finish is no where near a Leupold, which is normally my go to. The only reason I bought the diamondback is that it was so cheap. If I were to do it again I would have bought the Leupold.

I have one 4-12x40 that I shot a deer then moved it to my daughter's rifle.  She has shot a couple of deer with it as well.

I really like the glass in this price range, I don't think you can beat it for the money not to mention the best warranty in the business.  Every time I shoot her rifle, I'm pleasantly surprised at the view.

Looks like only the v-plex reticle model is on sale for $150, think I’ll still pick a couple up and see how I like them for that price.

Welp, went in thinking I’d look at scopes and ended up buying a gun instead lol. Guess I’ll put the new glass off until next year.
