major cuts in idaho elk tags
« on: March 05, 2009, 10:13:12 PM »
saw the new proposals for idaho big game seasons it looks like theyre suggesting caps on a lot of the A tags which have had no quota on them at all before as well as lower quotas on most of the B tags. for those who dont know how our system works the A tags are mostly archery and muzzleloader with limited rifle hunting, mostly spike only seasons, the B tags are the rifle tags and most of those had quotas previously.

Also suggesting a cap of 1200 total archery antelope tags on a first come first served basis, there has been no limit on those prior to now

Ill post up a link for any who are thinkin about idaho hunts this year

http://fishandgame.idaho.gov/cms/public/

just click on comment and then select the region you would like to look at proposals for

Thanks, I like how proactive they are being to address the winter kill.  Compared to this mickey mouse state they got the stuff wired together!

Actually the winter did slam them hard, the wolves are just the Two, in the One, Two Punch!

i think the wolves were the first problem because after several very minor winters the poulation was still dropping at an alarming rate hopefully with the delisting of wolves we can keep them at a controlled population level and help out the other big game species

Those proposals would be for the 2010 season as the 2009 tags are already being sold.

Correct?
