Is it just me, but the Maverick 88 seems like some kind of a clone/cross of an rem 870. Perhaps if have to find 2 to sit down side by side.
The barrel and attachment, mag tube seem to be Mossberg 500, and the reciever/trigger groups a rem 870...

No, they don't really have anything in common with an 870 except appearance/location of the safety. They are all Mossberg 500, with just a slightly different trigger group and the safety is at the rear of the receiver. Otherwise pretty much all the parts are interchangeable with a 500. I have one of each in the safe, and personally like either one better than an 870.
