Here is the rcw on carry. Notice they say concealed in all aspects.

RCW 9.41.050
Carrying firearms.

(1)(a) Except in the person's place of abode or fixed place of business, a person shall not carry a pistol concealed on his or her person without a license to carry a concealed pistol.

     (b) Every licensee shall have his or her concealed pistol license in his or her immediate possession at all times that he or she is required by this section to have a concealed pistol license and shall display the same upon demand to any police officer or to any other person when and if required by law to do so. Any violation of this subsection (1)(b) shall be a class 1 civil infraction under chapter 7.80 RCW and shall be punished accordingly pursuant to chapter 7.80 RCW and the infraction rules for courts of limited jurisdiction.

(2)(a) A person shall not carry or place a loaded pistol in any vehicle unless the person has a license to carry a concealed pistol and: (i) The pistol is on the licensee's person, (ii) the licensee is within the vehicle at all times that the pistol is there, or (iii) the licensee is away from the vehicle and the pistol is locked within the vehicle and concealed from view from outside the vehicle.

     (b) A violation of this subsection is a misdemeanor.

(3)(a) A person at least eighteen years of age who is in possession of an unloaded pistol shall not leave the unloaded pistol in a vehicle unless the unloaded pistol is locked within the vehicle and concealed from view from outside the vehicle.

     (b) A violation of this subsection is a misdemeanor.

     (4) Nothing in this section permits the possession of firearms illegal to possess under state or federal law.

Now the exception to the rules....

 RCW 9.41.060
Exceptions to restrictions on carrying firearms.

The provisions of RCW 9.41.050 shall not apply to:

bla bla bla...

Quote
Any person engaging in a lawful outdoor recreational activity such as hunting, fishing, camping, hiking, or horseback riding, only if, considering all of the attendant circumstances, including but not limited to whether the person has a valid hunting or fishing license, it is reasonable to conclude that the person is participating in lawful outdoor activities or is traveling to or from a legitimate outdoor recreation area;

This is my point these articles state the complete opposite of what your trying to get across. besides it still doesn't say concealed in the RCW 9.41.060
Exceptions to restrictions on carrying firearms.

50 tells you whats legal for concealed carry in this state.

60 is the exception to the laws in 50 only as stated. Not its own law. 50 clearly states "concealed".
Meaning in the exceptions stated in 60 you can carry concealed without a permit if any of the exceptions apply to you or your activities as stated in 60.

Its confusing maybe, but I can assure you its completly true.

So if your not licenced, you can only carry concealed at home or biz, without a permit as in your example in 1a.

RCW 60 say's, if your going outdoor, you can 50 dosent pertain, meaning no CWP needed to carry concealed. Its an exception to having to have a CWP only. Just like it states.

I had, for a time a Taurus 608. an 8 round .357 4in bbl- ported.  I will never, say again , NEVER carry a ported pistol for a trail gun. The first time I fired it (yes with out ear plugs-it was a trail gun) I expected to find fluid running out my ears. At 900 rounds it started falling apart.

When the money is there again the next will be a S&W 629 .44

Still ashamed I had to sell the last one.

I've always carried a Smith & Wesson .44 4in. Mountain Gun.  It's a tapered barrel and a little lighter.  However, I carry a .44 mag. because I want stopping power.  I don't think I'm stopping a big black bear sow or a grizzly in Alaska with a small lightweight .38 aerolight or a small frame titanium gun.
It all depends on what your main goal for carrying the gun is.  If it's in your hiking pack, it doesn't matter if you suprise a sow, or a cougar jumps on your back (you're not getting to your gun buried in your pack).  If you want it just for signalling if you're ever lost or stranded, then get something really small and lightweight.
My  :twocents:, get something with stopping power, .44 mag.  .454s and .50s are just overkill.

Also, if you are going to look for a titanium frame...make sure you ask about what kind of mag loads you are able to shoot.  My dad's S & W .44 629 6in., he can shoot anthing ("bear" or "buffalo" loads, 300 grain).  My lighter 629 mountain gun is recommended to not go above 240 grains.
So, make sure the lightweight titaniums can take big loads.
