Lake Cushman
« on: May 29, 2018, 10:30:30 AM »
I fished Cushman for the first time in years..  There are a ton of fish but they are spread out.  Had a hard time picking up koks in decent size but they are there..  Marked a ton of kings on the bottom in the channel at about 150'..  A nice dolly about 5 lbs hammered the downrigger and was a blast to fight, took my daughter about 10mins to get it to the boat for a clean release and was the highlight.

the water levels are being maintained much better and debris was almost none existent.  It's going to be a fun lake as they stock it up with more kings, silvers and mature sockeye now.

Any good bank fishing out at that lake? Sorry if I'm hijacking but figured I would ask. Some friends want to go camping on the Peninsula this summer and we want to do it close to a lake that we can have some fun in and do some fishing.

there are several creeks that feed into it as well as the waterfall on the Staircase end of the lake.  I'd be surprised if you coulnd't pick up fish.  Might want to consider a bobber stop set up and suspend bait at some different depths and I bet you do fine.  Try worms or some cured salad shrimp.

The kokes will school up in summer and the bridge a mile below staircase can become a great place to fish from. If the Koke schools are there you will limit quickly.
We use to fish from the day picnic spots along the road. You just have to get there early to get one of the spots and make a day out of it.
We always caught fish, sometimes trout, sometimes  Kokes, and even an occasional king.

Only 2 defining forces sacrificed themselves for you:
The American Soldier and Jesus Christ. One died for your freedom, the other for your soul.

My rock,
He trains my hands for war and my fingers for battle.
