Diesel fuel additives
« on: June 14, 2018, 09:16:06 PM »
Just curious what fuel additive everyone is running in their powerstroke? I currently use stanadyne as recommended by my old man. Any better options?

I'm using Diesel Kleen in mine and I'm going to give Sea Foam a try, heard good things about it.

Usually Diesel Kleen, I only add some in the winter when it gets real cold and occasionally through summer. Is it really needed all the time?

That’s what I’m trying to figure out as well. Everyone I know tells me to add it every tank

My truck only has about 230k to 240k, but engine still sounds like new and I only use it now and then. I know some trucks that have over 500k but i don't know if they use it or not.

Mine is a 2003 with the 7.3

I don't know about the 7.3 specifically but Ive read that running biodiesel is better than any additive.

My buddy who’s a major Cummins fan recommend Diesel Kleen when I asked this question in regards to a 99 VE Diesel Jetta. I believe it’s helped increase mileage a few mpg. I went from 42-43 to 44-47 with occasional 52 on a long road trip. Seems to keep things cleaned out

I run stanadyne in my 2012 cummins 6.7.  Run a bottle every other tank.  Don't know if it truly helps or not, but in my owners manual it makes mention about "recommendation for running fuel additives".

I'm currently and just recently running Lucas, after a talk with the mechanic that just replaced my injectors. He said that the new, low sulfur diesel has less lubricating qualities than the previous diesel mix. Sure hope it helps, I don't want to pay that bill again, anytime soon.

Motorcraft pm22a raises your cetane level seven points. Washington average for cetane in diesel is less than 40 and your truck most likely is recommended to run on 45 cetane. PM22A will work well in any diesel truck.

Here in Oregon they just put 22gals of gas in your diesel and call it good!!!!
