I'll check my back copies of Flyfisherman.  Seems I remember a picture of a guy casting upstream to one that was over 8 feet long.  Like I said, maybe my memory is hazy...

It would be like fishing for kings with lemmings, and the biggest kings we know of, like the Kenai strain, where the 70 pounders are some of the small ones.  Seems to me, a 9 weight fly rod with a huge mouse pattern dipped in blood, would be a BLAST. LOL

I remember that article too Pathfinder101.  I don't remember which mag, I think it was about 4 years ago, but I do remember monster fish.  Should we start planning a hunt-wa Far East side rendezvous 2010?  Anyone know how much fuel and how long it would take the 10hp to push the driftboat across the Pacific?

Not much fuel if we cross Mongol/Native American style up by the Berring Straits.  Probably pick up a couple of guides on the way down...  If I remember right, you bascially go for a week and hope to catch one fish.  Get up on the high ground and spot and stalk...

I fished the Frying Pan River in Colorado a few years ago beneath the Ruedi Dam.  HUGE rainbows on tiny mysis shrimp.  Same type of deal; spot from above and stalk, then cast over and over and over until you get a take.  I fished 6 hours and got one take from a fish that I am guessing was around 10 lbs.  I was so suprised when he finally went for it I pulled the fly right out of his $#@!ing mouth

That was it.  6 hours.  One take.
