Moses Lake Insight
« on: August 03, 2018, 11:20:10 PM »
I’m up in Moses Lake for the weekend, brought my boat so that in my free time Dad and I can try and catch some Walleyes. Does anyone have any insight as to where I should go looking? We fished this morning with no luck.

Long line troll shad raps on the flats and rock piles around bird island (N of I-90.) Also contour trolling the weed lines with the same gear in 12-20' has always worked for me but I haven't fished it for some time. Dawn and dusk are always best. Bites turn off and on quickly on Moses. Good luck, hope you find some action!

I have traditionally begin heading to potholes this time of year for walleye....bite seemed more consistent over their in August/Sept.

walleyes scoot out of 75 degree or higher water.   I would think most of Moses Lake is warmer than that other than the deeper holes.  I'd do like C-Money says and go down to the Potholes.

That makes sense, I don’t have the time to go to Potholes, I’ll head back into the 37’ holes. Usually we do ok, haven’t targeted the walleye here in the warm months. My parents live here and my Dad has been bass fishing and hasn’t found walleye yet in the warm months. Dad and Grandpa used to fish the Walleye tourney up here every year, the late summer one. In the deeper water I’ll try jigs/ Bladebaits and work harnesses on bottom walkers. Those seem to work in any Walleye hole I fish

3 oz weights would get you down to the deeper water down below Peninsula.  That's the deepest on the lake.

Well...did you find any? Probably run into some big perch if nothing else...
