Drop tine Blacktail
« on: August 07, 2018, 09:03:06 PM »
Here's something you don't see every day, a drop tined blacktail. A friend of mine shot it about 10-12 years ago.  The story was, he had a 4x4 spotted and was trying to get in position for a shot and this deer was in his way.  He waited over a half hour trying to see if he could get by this buck for a shot at the other buck, then finally took this one. He initially passed on this one because it wasn't that big and not near as big as the 4x4.  I told him I'd have taken this one in a heart beat just because this is a rarity. He said "Yah, I thought about it and asked myself how many drop tined blacktails I've seen and the answer was zero". So then he changed his mind.

Awesome buck, I love drop tines!

Nice!  His double drop must be even more rare.  A goofy rack all the way around but I couldn't imagine passing on this guy unless the other buck was an absolute book buck trophy.
