1987 Chevrolet 6.2 diesel 1 ton truck.
« on: August 06, 2018, 02:23:40 PM »
Long abused( maintenance ignored, ran short trips, no warm up, over loaded) old truck. Head gasket went. Do we just replace head gasket? replace motor, Is there other stuff that should be fixed along with head gasket? Better off to put in a better motor? Has over 100,000 rough miles, have had trouble getting parts for repairs in the past. Lots of folks say motor was crap when new!! LOL
Thanks
Carl

That was well before 1987, I think.

I recall from my Chevy days that GM doesn’t offer a replacement 6.2L anymore. Now you get a 6.5L without a turbo. Who knows. That’s been 15+ years.
