Little Naches Parapet
« on: August 27, 2018, 06:54:53 PM »
Maybe someone here can help me out. I'm getting ready for my wife's rifle tag and this is one area I haven't found yet. Anyways my dad always hunted the Bald Mountain area and one of the spots he would drag me to before I carried a rifle was the Parapet. (40 years ago). It was a nice spot on top of a rock slide that another gentleman had hunted many years prior to him. This guy evidently sat there all season with a nice fire, coffee brewing and almost a 360 degree view. He had a little wood stove up there.I was with my dad when he shot a cow there and he took a few others from the same spot. I can't remember the man's name but for some reason Johnson rings a bell. At that time the road ended very close to the spot, but now it is totally different with the logging and the many roads that have been punched through. I know the drainage and would love to at least climb up there for the memory and possibly see if I can get her up there. It would be cool to have her kill a bull from the Parapet. It has to be there or at least the remains of it. What a cool guy and a cool place it was as I remember it. If anyone has heard of it or knows a bit about it I'd love to here it. I have a few other details I'll keep private so if a private message works that works for me too. If I do find some screaming bulls I'll let the archery guys know.

Found it. Pretty cool spot and brings back some good memories. I was hoping there would be some remnants and there was. Door to the old wood stove, and some other relics like a peel back beer can. Saw some elk, heard a few bugles (nothing serious), and only saw a couple archery guys, hopefully they are getting on them. The weather was a little cooler. Looking forward to getting back up there. Thanks to Sunbkpk for the PM.

Nice.  It is kind of cool finding those old-timer spots and thinking about the many years of good times had there.

I see those types  of blinds a lot. There is one on the lower manashtash ridge I walk past often.  I remember one on the higher part of the  ridge that was made with the cab of a utility truck and the blind was chained to some trees.
