Disposal

Hey folks,

With the seasons starting to ramp up I wanted to throw a little advice/recommendation out there for anyone lucky enough to be successful this year. I went to check some cameras this past weekend and parked at the gate. While I was changing out of work clothes and putting on play clothes I could smell something awful. Thinking it was my dirty clothes or boots at first I realized it was an outside source. I found a tarp, tied tight with baling twine. Cut it open and unfurled enough to see maggots and deer hide. Didn't open it up any further as I was in a hurry but herein lies the rub.

There are two possible scenarios:

1. Seeing as how archery hunters seem to not shy away from work and don't strike me as lazy I can't imagine that anyone would work so hard for a deer only to leave the carcass on the side of a paved road, in a tarp where it can't be broken down in the usual ways. But if this was the case, then we all need to remember that the work isn't over once the meat is in the freezer, leaving a stinky gore bag on the side of the road where others have to see and smell the mess isn't helping our cause. I'm pissed, I can only imagine what a non-hunter would think and have to say. So folks, roll it off a dirt road, put it in a dumpster, or bury it in your yard. The point is, if you  wouldn't want to see it in your lawn, don't leave it where everyone else has to see it.

2. If it wasn't shot legally by a bow hunter the only other option I can think of is that it was poached and dumped, or dumped by a tribe member (i.e not poached-ish). Either way its bad form.

Not trying to ruffle feathers, just letting people know that this is an example of what not to do.
Have some respect.

In the past year, twice I found dead dogs in black garbage bags and a dead deer carcass wrapped in plastic at road ends, parking spots etc. Stunk of course. Is it that hard to walk 50 yards out into the bush to dispose of it?

Last month I went fishing above Lower monumental in my boat. When I got back to the boat dock there were two guys cleaning their catch at the boat launch using the dock as their cleaning table and throwing the carcasses in the water right where you back the boat down the ramp. Some young people who were not fishermen but rather going out to enjoy the cool water on a hot day had just launched their boat on the opposite side of the launch. I could tell the young females were a bit put off by the blood and gore. Worse, these jerks wouldnt pull their trailered boat out of the launch till I pulled in. They continued to clean and dump guts as I backed my trailer down the launch. Only after I had nearly backed over the guys with my empty trailer did they move to the other side. I didnt say anything, thought better of it and i didnt think it would do any good to have a confrontation.
