Crappie in Long Lake? (Kitsap Co.)
« on: September 16, 2018, 10:20:15 PM »
Would appreciate any advice on catching Crappie in this lake.  I have made progress with the Largemouth Bass but still no Crappie.  This is my home lake now.

Anyone have any helpful advice?  A PM or post would be appreciated.

Thanks!

We have had good luck fishing for Crappie on Long Lake in the Spring during the Spawn. We fish the Lilly Pads on the west side of the lake using 1/32 oz jigs with white bodies and a Reddish pink head under a Bobber. Fluorocarbon leader helps as does adding your favorite Oil (I like Craw fish or shrimp) to the lure to help cover up my "Manly Smell".

BLH69,
Here's the run down on Kitsap County's Long Lake. To catch the Perch you need to fish the North or South ends just off the Lilly Pads and keep the worm just off the bottom.

"Long Lake does not receive any hatchery trout stocking, but has good fishing for Coastal Cutthroat in the spring.  Largemouth Bass and Yellow Perch fishing can be good there in the spring and into the summer, and fishing for Bluegill Sunfish and Black Crappie can be fair to good in the late summer and into the fall.  The lake is long and very shallow, becoming weedy in mid-summer.  But it is perfect habitat for warmwater fishing and supports Largemouth Bass up to nine pounds."

I can tell you there are some real nice crappie in the other Long lake (Stevens County) just for pictures sake...Drop shot small jigs and add a meal worm when it's slow.
