First Hunt Ever, First Turkey Ever
« on: October 09, 2018, 10:10:24 PM »
Very excited! Just got my first Turkey on Sunday. Took hunters ed the previous weekend. Just shot my first bow 4 weeks ago. Thanks to Russ McDonald (seen him on here) as he suggested that Klickitat was probably not the spot to go in fall.

Ended up changing my strategy to 117 / 121. Without giving up too much info, met a lady and she invited us to hunt on her property, said she lived in turkey land, and she did indeed. Didn't actually get one on her land but got one on the road near it!

Not the biggest one but it was a clean shot and my first ever bird, first ever anything!

Tastes AWESOME too!! Made some schnizel tonight and making soup with the rest tomorrow.

Absolutely! Cant wait until Spring! I was just in awe watching the flocks when I finally found them. Really haven't seen anything like that ever and it was quite a sight to see!

Nicely done!  Usually not as easy in the spring but you're hooked now.

Its a long drive north east of the mountains from Olympia! I will unfortunately probably have to wait until spring... though I do have one tag left! I did see a small group in Cle Elum last Tuesday near Suncadia. It was private land though.

Your first kill is a turkey with a bow? You've got a bright hunting future ahead. Congratulations and welcome to HuntWA!

Just a heads up east cascades is not open unless you draw the permit.  Klickitat is the exception to the rule.
