Bluebird Modern Season
« on: October 17, 2018, 03:52:06 PM »
Pretty sure some will not share my sentiments, but it is nice to see a warm and sunny modern season for a change.
Last couple years have had snow involved during general deer which leads to a higher harvest.
Its nice that the muleys here in central WA are getting a break this year, its good for the herd. IMO

what's interesting to me is that I have my best success during weather like this! I hunt all day, and it's pretty easy to find the deer in blue bird weather since it is predictable where they will be but most hunters just go to the same spots each year and expect it to be just like the last time they found deer...then again, I hunt the backcountry and snow usually pushes them around and down, so having them in their summer mode makes it nice for those that understand mule deer behavior.

Grade

PS. I tried not to give too much info away but if you read between the lines you can find a buck pretty easily in this weather... :)
There's more to life than hunting...there's fishing too!

Agreed.
They are not moving as much as they would be if the snow was pushing them to migrate quickly. As an avid archery guy, bluebird is the norm for me. I like the early season.  ;)

OK, I admit it, I opened this thread, thinking Modern Rifle for hunting Bluebirds  :dunno:

Then, man they would make a really cool mount.
