Elk in the low 100's GMUs...
« on: October 23, 2018, 01:50:34 PM »
I'm looking to hunt in 108-130 gmu's. Wherever i can get on some elk. I know they are spread out through there, and most are probably on private land. I was just wondering if someone could give me some pointers in the right direction for rifle? Im not looking for a trophy or anything, just looking to feed my family for the next several months. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you for your time and help in advance. Also, if anyone lives in the area or is going to be in the area alone, i wouldn't mind a hunting partner :D All mine are either injured, stuck at work, or hunting archery instead. Once again, thank you for any help you are able/willing to give me :)

Lots & lots of public ground in the 111, 113 GMU's. It gets pretty thick, but there are small herds scattered.
Look up around Sullivan Lake, get some elevation gain with some clearings and you never know what you might bump into.
Just make sure you don't get bumped into by something with sharp teeth!

thanks. i'll definitely keep that in mind when i go up. i wish I could have had more time to scout, but family orchard kept me busy until just this last weekend with harvest. So making the best out of what I got :) appreciate the information! I'll try to avoid the sharp toothed critters... main reason i'm seeing if anyone wants to tag along :D

and Yelper Guy, on the sullivan lake part... should i just work the burn area to the east of sullivan lake? that is actually an area that i had figured on checking from my map scouting I have done, lol.
