My first thought is he already dead?
Great post and an awesome Blacktail...that one made me laugh hard!  Maybe he was so old he had hearing problems?  What is your estimate on age?
You guys that consistently kill big mature BT bucks have my utmost respect...

MSH

Based on how regressed he is and how worn his teeth are (the ones he still had left) I’d have say he’s  north of 10, I think he’s been regressing for a few years. From watching some other bucks get old on trail cam it seems the first signs of regression show a little at 9.

Bummer!

They don't come easy that's for sure, a lot of miles a lot of days and a few cringe moments passing on other bucks. I feel really blessed to take two old blacktail bucks in back to back years.  Tracking that old buck down in 2017 after wounding it was like 5 years of hunting knowledge gained, getting into the mind of an old buck and how he survived so long.

Nice work! You must be doing something right to be able to euthanize two senior citizens in a row. Blacktail are the closest thing to God I have found. But what happens when they get into "your" mind? Sanity check? :chuckle: Keep up the good work
