Curing single eggs

Does anybody here cure their own singles for trout fishing?
If so, what's the process? All my singles pop when I put a hook through them.

Didnt know people used eggs for trout.  I gave up trout fishing  unless throwing a spinner or spoon. Powerbait would put the hurt on some trout but they always swallow the bait so catch and release isnt an option.

You using small enough hook thin wire to keep from popping the eggs?

I think your best bet would be to use Pautzke's Fire Cure in powder form. It comes in a variety of colors, but pink or red would be my choice.
There are youtube videos on this product - which I use on entire skeins and they turn out awesome.

1 cup sugar 1 cup salt 1 cup mule team 20 borax 2 tablespoons boraxofire of your color choice. Boil all ingredients till dissolved, soak eggs 20 minutes stirring every 5 minutes, strain eggs  and let get well drained put in your jar. I use this for bait clusters, fished all day Friday for steelhead. Used 1 skein for bait all day. Makes a really tough bait.

Single Eggs are not cured like skein eggs...they are cooked. Mix the brine and boil it, and once it starts to boil throw in the single eggs (assuming you got single eggs, like from a ripe Chum hen...). Pro-Cure has a video on how to cook single eggs like this along with curing skeins...but the single egg is cooked, not "cured" that's why your singles are popping and not like those jarred single eggs. Try "cooking them"...only boil in the brine for a minute or two! Then put them in jars with some mineral oil (that's what Pautski's use) or some Pro-Cure bait oils, like Anise, to really get the trout to bite!

I absolutely hate spawn sacks. That said I am trying to put to use some loose eggs from some "later" chum catches this year. I hat throwing eggs away and though they might be good for lake trout in the spring or Cutties later in the winter.
