help please

i am going turky hunting for the first time at the end of next month. what camo should i have on. what chokes should i have in and size of shot should i use? what call should i use i have a box call and 2 mouth calls. any help will be good thank you.

Be full camo.  Turkey is actually a species that it matters. Though I have killed them in a necktie and in shorts, not at the same time, camo is IMPORTANT.

I cna't help you on shot.  I used turkey loads, full choke, but now use a bow......

calls...which ones are you good at?  box is probably easier to learn, but mouth has better advantages when hunting by yourself.

I would use turkey loads and full choke.  Full camo, you can buy camo tape for your shotgun or camo sleve.  Don't forget a locator call- crow or owl.

If you are trying to locate roosted birds at dusk, they will gobble at a crow call or an owl call, defense gobble, then you can come back the next morning before light and set up near the roost.

I went to Cabelas and sat on a very informative turkey seminar this morning. You should have been there.
Tips i got fromit were, camo head to toe, all the different calls and sounds, scouting techniques, and go any place in NE WA. and you will find turkey

And for those like Aaron more up north we're having another one Saturday the 28th 11AM to 3PM at the Outdoor Emporium store just south of Safeco field. We'll try and go over everything you need to start for a 1st timer. I'll be co-hosting this one. The one this morning at Cablea's was great Al does a greeat job and means a ton to this region's turkey hunting community. Hope to see some folks there, and hope I can hold a candle to what Al did today.

Aaron, I use hevi-shot in size 5 or 6, but any turkey load in shot size 4-6 would work. I would recommend an extrafull or turkey choke. camo your face and hands, turkeys have great eyesight and you're bringing them in close. Again, I would recommend camo that is greens and browns.

You could always use a quick set-up ground blind, kind of like sitting behind a low fence with just your head and shoulders being visible, but it's something else you have to carry.  I have one and found it was easier to just camo up and not have to carry a blind.  You tend to have to move around a lot, find the birds, try to get ahead of them, instead of relying on bringing them to you.

Camo is nice, but brown will work.  Do not, I repeat, do not wear white socks.....or anything white that might become visible, like a tee shirt.  That's one of the colors on a gobbler's head...we don't want some over excited hunter shooting you, now do we.

The time I was in shorts was a real pisser.  I got back into my truck and headed down the road and I felt something on my leg.  I looked down and I had over a 1,000 ticks spreading out on my leg.  Apparantly I had hit a nest of them.  Closest I have ever coming to a full out panic attack.    I lost the one I got in my tie.  I killed him, tagged him, opened him up and hung him in a tree,  I didn't have him high enough and a coyote got him while I was at work.
