45 ACP Bullets
« on: November 14, 2018, 08:58:31 PM »
I'm new into steel plate shooting I'm using my trusty 1911 45 ACP. What bullets are you folks using? Started out with Berry's and switched to Rainier, I'm finding the Rainier's group better. Any thoughts?

Steel plate shooting, are you referring to Steel Challenge?

Ive always used hard cast for steel and pins, unless its a olace I cant pick up my brass. Then I should the aluminum cased federal stuff
Practical accuracy and a packable rifle.
Blued steel and walnut is always better.

With Steel Challenge, you just have to hit the target, doesn't matter where. Unlike Bulls eye, competitions. So I load the cheapest lead coated bullets I can find. I will even shoot just plain lead bullets also, if the price is right, barrel leading to date has been minimal. So I don't worry about it. Plus accuracy with coated or just plain lead bullets has been quite good. To me speed shoot ammo, does not need to be as precise. so cheap bullets work just fine. I get mine from BlueBullet.com and Missouri bullets. I'm a tight wad, so I like cheap.

I use Montana Gold Bullets. 45acp 230gr. CMJ bullets.

Nothing like a Remington model 700xcr.
