Savage 250-3000
« on: March 21, 2009, 08:28:35 PM »
I have a model 99 Savage 250-3000. I haven't shot it for years and I have only shot 250 savage shells in it. My question is what other shells can I use in it? I have look for 250 savage shells locally and can't find any. I can find them online but I don't know if there is a better shell to use or if I can only use 250 Savage?  :dunno:

It's only a 250 savage that's the only round you can fire in it. The 3000 part of the designation refers to the earlyer models that have rifling meant to stabilize lighter bullets 87grn to get 3000fps velocity. They are NOT different rounds they ARE the one in the same. try sportsmans wherehouse ,Cabelas, and sportco they all had 250 savage ammo last weekend when i was shopping for ammo.

Thanks Superdown. Like I said I haven't shot it for years. My house was broke into at the end of Janurary and my gun safe was rolled end over end for about one hundred yards. The theives didn't get my safe open or get it out of my yard. So I need to resite in all my guns and I don't have any rounds left for that gun.

The guns them selves all look OK visibly a few dings here and there. But the safe was a total mess. I had a lot of financial papers, pictures and other stuff. that protected them pretty good.

That's to bad. Glad that they didn't get it loaded or opened. Are you gonna lag it down this time?
