Archery deer on the YTC
« on: March 22, 2009, 09:07:56 PM »
Any truth to the rumor that they are changing the archery deer season back to September on the Yakima Training Center? This would be a good year to draw after being closed last year.

That is the way it was in the proposals, so it seems like that is what is going to happen. Personally I would rather have the late season hunt just because I hate hunting in the heat, but it does give us first crack in that area at the deer.

I was reading through the season settings and found what you were talking about. Pg. 45 Alkali Sept. 1-26 any deer 52 tags.

Here is the link.

That is good news. I agree with not liking the heat. I normally don't hunt the early season for deer but I would make an exception if I drew that tag. Take a look at the harvest stats for the late hunt out there. Pretty dismal after muzzy, rifle and the indians take there share. I have a map of the YTC with every spring on it. So setting over watering holes would be a great way to hunt it.

Thanks for the confirmation!
